PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

As part of our objective to help our clients design a positive social-cultural climate, we have established a  series of workshops available for professional leaders, CEO’s, and business owners. Our sessions are designed to help executives create an environment for healthy engagement among all their stakeholders, including clients, employees, faculty and staff, vendors, investors, and even competitors. The workshops are intended to benefit both the executives and their staff.

Course topics and descriptions:

COULD I BE THE PROBLEM?

This workshop is designed to help participants understand and resolve conflict through an introspective lens, where the individual examines  him or herself to consider his or her role in external conflicts of which he or she may be involved. 90 minutes.

THE GOAL STARTS WITH A VISION

This workshop is designed to help participants: 1) identify personal and professional goals and 2) create a visual depiction of their goals and the necessary social environment for achieving them. 120 minutes.

CULTURAL RELEVANCE: ERADICATING LINES OF CULTURAL DIVIDE

This workshop is designed to help participants expand their cultural capital and their capacity toward developing harmonious relationships with other people, who are culturally different from themselves. 90 minutes.

THE MENTORING LEADER™

This course describes the role of leaders as mentors in the workplace. In this instance, the mentor is a significant personality recognized as a guide who helps to facilitate mentees’ continual growth and development through a community building process. The course introduces the concept that everyone is a mentee and mentor, at once—concurrent learners and dispensers of knowledge. An important outcome of this course is that participants recognize their own potential and the potential of all members within workplace communities as leaders, in particular mentoring leaders. 90 minutes or full day.

THE POWER OF JOURNALING: SHAPING WORLDS WITH WORDS

This workshop is designed to show participants how journaling can be used as a powerful tool for composing self-fulfilling prophecies toward renewing one’s perspective, shaping one’s realities, and ensuring  a hopeful end to everyday challenges.

The course teaches participants the approach of “declare and decree” as a means to direct their  thinking, their confessions, and their state of being toward a positive narration and interpretation of their lives. 90 minutes.

THE ELLISON MODEL: FORGING THE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

The goal of this workshop is to enhance participants’ development as inclusive community builders in outlook and practice. To teach principles of team and community building, the workshop uses a framework, known as The Ellison Model (TEM), which focuses on Mentorship, Inclusion, Multicultural Appreciation, Conflict Resolution, and Relationship Building. 120 minutes.

3-DAY NEW HIRE WORKSHOP

The New Hire workshop is designed to equip participants with basic concepts, strategies, and techniques for on-the-job success.  The workshop helps participants develop their “people skills” and helps to ensure potential employers, in particular, that their new hirees participant are more likely to work and interact well with others. 12 hours total.

COMMUNICATING WITH LITERACIES OF POWER™

Every environment has its own culture with conventional rules for engagement, sometimes referred to as politics of space or literacies of power. Literacies of power refer to the use of acceptable verbal and non-verbal behaviors toward gaining trust, qualifying personal value, and accessing opportunity, including upward mobility. In this course, attendees will evaluate their personal verbal and non-verbal behaviors and consider how
these may affect their own position within a particular space. Participants will also identify general literacies of power within community and work-place environments. 90 minutes or full day.

BUILDING A DREAM TEAM USING A HIP HOP FRAMEWORK™

Relevance, environment, and movement (REM™) are team building essentials that in many cases are disregarded by leaders seeking to build a solid team. This course introduces REM, in conjunction with activities related to four elements of hip hop (DJing, Bboying, Emceeing, and Graffiti) in order to show how these art forms might serve as a collective tool for strategically designing a cohesive unit within the workplace. 90 minutes or full day.

ADDING PERSONAL VALUE
While personal value relates to the worth one sets for him or herself, personal value often results from the ways in which one is read, interpreted, and evaluated by others. This course defines value as one’s ability to impact, influence, and create positive change within his or her environment. After examining various levels of identity, self, subject, and agent, participants will walk away with strategies for enhancing perceived value, thus adding to their personal value. 90 minutes or full day.
